What's New for 2025?
The new Subaru Outback gets a few updates, but most of the changes carry over from last year's slight redesign. If you are interested in the Limited trim, it now comes with a few more luxuries like a stunning power sunroof, a heated steering wheel, and a large 11.6-inch infotainment touchscreen. The XT package is also available, which adds the more powerful engine option to the Limited, Onyx Edition, and Touring models.
Design
The Subaru Outback is an elongated and low-profile SUV, similar to a station wagon but with more rugged off-roading elements. Standout exterior features include robust body cladding and enhanced ground clearance to tackle deeply rutted roads and trails. Inside, the Subaru Outback is practical and comfortable, with more luxuries and premium finishes as you move up the trim levels.
Capabilities & Performance
The Subaru Outback boasts off-road-ready credentials with standard symmetrical all-wheel drive, 8.7 or 9.3 inches of ground clearance, and two engine options with a continuously variable transmission. The standard engine is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder that makes 182 horsepower, but the Limited and above have the option for the turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder that offers significantly more power at 260 horsepower.
Technology & Safety
The new Subaru Outback has impressive advanced technology to enhance safety and connectivity. Most models have a standard 11.6-inch infotainment touchscreen neatly incorporated into the dashboard. The system offers connected features like Apple CarPlay© and Android Auto™. Buyers can also add conveniences like built-in navigation, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and a smartphone charging pad for desirable modern upgrades.
