Subaru BRZ: It's Thinker Than You Fast It Is

How do we know when we're going fast? Generally speaking, we don't. Observers on Earth's surface rotate around its axis at 40 meters per second; Earth itself revolves around the Sun (30 kilometers/second); and the Sun rotates around the galactic center at about (220 km/s). Meanwhile, the whole kit is being dragged in a stately gyre toward the constellation Virgo at about 370 km/s. What, you don't feel that?

Rumble Seat columnist Dan Neil takes the new Subaru BRZ out for a spin.

We don't because we judge motion by acceleration, that…

Subaru unveils new EyeSight driver assistance system

ABR Staff Writer Published 16 March 2012

Subaru of America has unveiled its new EyeSight driver assistance system, which will be debuted at the New York International Auto Show on 2013 Legacy and Outback models.

EyeSight which integrates adaptive cruise control, pre-collision braking, and vehicle lane departure warning, will appear on other products in the Subaru line-up.

The new technology, which is capable of detecting obstacles in front of a parked car and limit potential damage in an impact, will become available later this year.

EyeSight uses two charge-coupled device (CCD) cameras developed by the automaker and is mounted inside…

CAR FEATURE>> SUBARU BRZ STI CONCEPT

Come April it's going to be a mighty hard choice for potential owners of the 86 and BRZ. Which car to go for? They are virtually the same vehicle, no major differences except the badges and of course similar prices.  However, once the car you see here hits the showroom it's going to be might hard not to go the Subaru route. STI have been teasing us with modified versions of the BRZ, first at the LA Auto Show with the first concept, and now with this closer to production version that was shown at the Tokyo Auto…

First Drive: 2013 Subaru XV An Impreza by Any Other Name

December 12, 2011
By Rory Jurnecka
|
Having just returned from the press launch of the new 2013 Subaru XV, I can tell you two things with certainty. The first is that if you haven't seen the Tuscan countryside in late fall, you should put it on your bucket list. The weather is crisp, but the impossibly perfect winding roads zip past wineries and farmland, lined with fire orange leaves, lush greenery, and people just as colorful from a cultural standpoint. The second is that the Subaru XV, despite being 'just a lifted Impreza,' is a…

2012 Motor Trend Car of the Year Contender: Subaru Impreza

2012-Subaru-Impreza
Though the new 2012 Subaru Impreza's sheetmetal is much easier on the eyes than the outgoing model, it's no more handsome than that of big siblings the Legacy sedan and Outback wagon. Subaru throws in an interior that looks and feels even cheaper than the new Civic's, especially in our lower-spec hatchback tester.

The Impreza lost 164 pounds, and a new 2.0-liter DOHC boxer has replaced its 2.5-liter SOHC boxer. The five-speed manual remains, though a continuously variable transmission has replaced its four-speed…

BIG fuel savings, neater looks and more pep and space should give Subaru's all-new Impreza the goods to get the brand back into top gear when it goes on sale early next year.

The car retains many of the previous model's lines, minus the ugly bulgey bits. It's a smoother, more attractive design that's also more aerodynamic, especially around the headlights. Also, there's no exhaust pipe poking out of the rear end of the hatch or the…
